It hasn’t rained for the past two days. It’s kind of weird. Tonight is our third and last night in Killarney and we are exhausted. We started our Killarney experience with a visit to Ross Castle.
Ring of Kerry
This morning we slept in slightly. I blame jetlag and the Irish weather. Either way we set off for Killarney around 10am and took our first stop along the coast.
Dingle Peninsula
Today we rented bikes and rode around the Dingle Peninsula. In all it was about 30 miles and 5.5 hours of bike riding. We stopped a lot though to sight-see.
Galway and the West Coast of Ireland
After travelling all day yesterday, we didn’t really have the energy to write any blog posts. We just checked into the hostel, walked down to the piers, and slept for about 10 hours. Today we did some grocery shopping before picking up our rental car and driving down the west coast of Ireland.
Scotland Part 3: Highlands and Loch Ness
Today we joined a guided tour of the Scottish highlands and Loch Ness. The day started early again because we were travelling pretty far north by bus.
Scotland Part 2: Edinburgh
Today was very busy. We started bright and early with a walk down the Royal Mile and a visit to the National Museum of Scotland.
Scotland Part 1: Rosslyn Chapel
Sorry for the delay in posting these, we have had very little internet access in Scotland.
Today we took a bus and train from Keswick (small town in Northern England) to Edinburgh, Scotland. We arrived in the late afternoon and visited the famous Rosslyn Chapel.
Lake District Part 2: Hiking
Today we started early with a full English breakfast before beginning our hike around the perimeter of the lake.
It rained for most of the day, so we purchased an umbrella before setting out. We hiked up to a lookout point (a small mountain) for some incredible views of the town, lake, and valley.
Tomorrow we are heading up to Edinburgh. We are both pretty exhausted from the ~10 mile hike so I think we’re calling it a day. The next place doesn’t have free wifi, so I’m unsure when the next post will be.
Lake District Part 1: Arrival
Today we traveled to northern England’s Lake District. On the way, we found the ruins of a castle King Richard III lived in for a few years.
London Part 3: St. Paul’s and Shakespeare
We woke up incredibly early (for a vacation) to be at the other side of London at 8am for opening hours at St. Paul’s Cathedral. The audio tour was interesting, the ground floor was impressive, and the view from the dome was amazing.
