Florence

We met Lyle’s friend, Jessica, at the Venice train station.  From there, we headed south to Florence, Italy.  After some slight problems checking into the B&B we started exploring the city.

One of the first stops was to try gelato.

We found a dam along the Arno River and walked out to the middle.

The next morning, we woke up early to beat the lines at Il Duomo, The Dome.  We climbed the 463 steps to the top and enjoyed the great views of Florence and the Tuscany valley.

After that, we ate lunch and headed back to the river across Florence’s famous bridge, Ponte Vecchio.

We finished our day in Florence with a walk by Baboli Gardens up to Pazzele Michelangiolo.  Some more great views of Florence and the wine country.

The next morning we went to Galleria dell’Accademia to see Michelangelo’s most famous sculpture, David.  No photos were allowed inside however.  After our 48 hours in Florence, we continued to Rome.
